Hello, friends!
First things first, thank you so much for the kindness and support you showed in response to my welcome post. Every like, comment, share, and subscription truly encouraged my heart — I’m so grateful you’re here again!
As I mentioned last week, I want to invite you into my “green & graceful” endeavors, and one of the most grace-filled endeavors of my life is growing in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God’s Word. Today, I want to share one of the ways God has been calling me to do just that: Scripture memory.
This year I’ve been going through The Bible Recap, which has been a wonderful and challenging experience. But as I’ve walked through God’s Word, He has also laid something else on my heart: to be more intentional about storing Scripture deep within my heart.
Why?
Because in all things — whether I’m simply parenting and doing life with my family, or whether I’m speaking His truth into my life or the life of a friend — I want and need His Word ready — written on the tablet of my heart.
Why Scripture Memory?
Psalm 119:11 says:
"I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."
That’s probably a verse many of us remember from childhood Bible drills, but to me, it’s far more than a familiar phrase — this verse has become a personal conviction for me.
As a mom, this conviction hit even harder when I read Deuteronomy 6:6–7: "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."
God has made it clear: His Word isn’t just reserved for Sundays or small group — it’s meant to be our daily companion. When His truth dwells in us richly (Colossians 3:16), it begins to shape everything: our thoughts, our conversations, how we live, and our daily actions.
Wow — what could our lives look like if we truly let God’s Word transform us?
Introducing G&G’s Scripture Cards
Out of that conviction, I started designing simple Scripture cards to help myself grow in God’s Word and memorize verses. What started as a small card on my fridge is now something I’m excited to share with you!
💡 Fun fact: The most meaningful praise I’ve received so far came from my brother — who’s not exactly one to share. He said:
“Yeah, your cards actually work… I wasn’t even trying to memorize the verse, but I kept walking past the card and just kind of learned it.”
I can’t tell you how happy his words made me — because that’s exactly my hope for anyone using G&G’s Scripture memory cards: to more easily learn and commit God’s Word to heart.
The cards come in both women’s and men’s designs. They use the “first letter” method — where you recall a verse by prompting your memory with just the first letter of each word — to help with memorization.

How to Use Them
Tape one to your mirror, refrigerator, or dashboard. Keep a set at work or in your journal. Share with a friend or memorize with your kids — it’s a simple way to keep God’s Word visible and close.
What Scripture Says About Scripture
Before wrapping up this post, I want to share some additional verses (a few of which can be found in the card pack) that speak of Scripture’s power and purpose — and its call to put it into daily practice. These verses help anchor me in my conviction to commit God’s Word to memory:
The Power & Purpose
2 Timothy 3:16–17 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Living It Out
James 1:22 – But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
My Final Thoughts
Memorizing Scripture isn’t always easy, and I’ve put it off more times than I care to admit — it can be difficult and time-consuming.
But here’s the question I keep coming back to:
Isn’t God worth the effort?
If I want God’s Word to transform my heart, shape my life, and overflow into the lives of those around me, I have to be able to say — truthfully — that I’ve given this endeavor my utmost effort.
So, if you’re reading this… would you join me?
Let’s allow God’s Word to root deeply in our hearts so it can be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).
I promise you, God is faithful, and He will help you in this life-changing, grace-filled endeavor.
